The Ruler Of The World Poem by Ron Knight

The Ruler Of The World

Old man sleeping in a cardboard box
with holes in his socks
came home to be locked out of his door
after he fought in their misguided war.

Drunk driver killed the newly wed bride
he took it all in his stride
said it wasn't his fault his wife kicked him out
he was just in his car driving about.

Teenage kids forced out onto the street
with nothing to do and nothing to eat
pushed into a world of violence and crime
another sign we're near the end of the times

Who is the ruler of this world
since from high up he was downwardly hurled?
who in wickedness will always revel?
it can only be the devil

The analytical world has sure lost sight
of what's wrong or right
shysters who turn the truth upside down
own the biggest houses in town

A quarter of the world has no clean water at all
no one hears their call
while guns and bombs are the order of the day
the system we live in is in total disarray

Child abuse is at an all time high
Is there a reason why?
gambling houses tearing families apart
and breaking childrens hearts

Who is the ruler of this world
since from high up he was downwardly hurled?
who in wickedness will always revel?
it can only be the devil

A billion people starving in the third world
their future is sealed
while the billionaire bankers don't have enough
without another bail out they say things will get tough

Organized crime is in every town
who can bring it down?
while political rulers are picking up bribes
along with many scribes

Well I know tomorrow is a brand new day
When our children pay
If your hoping for the answer with a gun in your hand
you'll never understand

Who is the ruler of this world
since from high up he was downwardly hurled?
who in wickedness will always revel?
it can only be the devil
