Young And Mean Poem by Edwina Reizer

Young And Mean

They put a blindfold on my eyes
and said 'Let's play a game.'
They turned me around and around and left
and then they called my name.
I took a step and then two more
and heard a laughing sound.
A few more steps and suddenly
I could not feel the ground.
I felt my body falling fast
and uncovered both my eyes.
I hit the water like a ton of bricks
and searched out all the whys?
I could not swim and as I sank
I held my breath and prayed
that they'd never blindfold another kid
and laugh at the game they played.
