Yet Another Nail... Poem by Annette Aitken

Yet Another Nail...

Rating: 5.0

Yet Another Nail

Yet another nail
in another's coffin
one can grow very tired
of reacting to the moods of others.
I can sometimes disturb myself,
in the darkness of the night,
leaving an awful mess behind.
To have dark fantasies, but,
not to act on them.
To take charge of your day,
and ignore the actions
of others that you can't control.
Can it be the thrill of the hunt
that spur other's on.

As I retreat to allow
truth to speak to me
from a peaceful place.

Yes, we ought to take charge of our day, Let the truth speak, and ignore the actions of others, which we can't control. And then, we can get on with our lives. Thanks for sharing, Annette!

Annette, your first 2 lines and your last stanza absolutely nail this piece (if I might borrow your term) . Another fantastic work, Annette. You have become quite the notable writer. :) S

*** A hammer toe is a deformity that causes your toe to bend or curl downward instead of pointing forward. This deformity can affect any toe on your foot. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - good idea, Annette, to NOT act on some (or all) of the dark fantasies! to MyPoemList. bri :)

screws are more dependable for keeping a coffin secured, AND they make it easier to open if one has a screwdriver AND is on the OUTSIDE of the coffin! let me know if you ever want a screw. and, speaking of nails, i made up a joke recently (maybe others have made up the same joke, but i don't know it) : Q. what can a hammer toe *** be used for? A. for driving in toe nails (to be continued) :

THIS is TRUTH speaking to you, Annette. Transfer all of your cash to my bank account. Take me to dinner at a posh restaurant [your treat]. Deliver ice cream to me at my peaceful place three times a day. bri :) That is all!

How wise this poem feels! How I would love to be able to treat the reacting mood of others with such a great response: To take charge of your day, and ignore the actions of others that you can't control. May your day be filled with peace and smiles dear poet, thank you for this beautiful share!

Truth creeps up the stairways of both heart and mind, and it must bow before dignity and with its tears, may it gently wash away all pain and expose closure for any perceived misconceptions, waiting is the pits, I know, I have been there. Annette Seamus is correct, you have become a notable writer, he is by far in my opinion the best male poet on this site and he praises your poetry....be proud my friend! : -)
