Wild Horses Poem by Hazel Durham

Wild Horses

Rating: 4.9

Childhood days of rain beating down,
Beating down on acres of fields
In amongst grey fields of stone all around,
Raining a waterfall of sapphires, gems and diamonds falling down,

My childish imagination made my dreams into reality all around,
Horses replaced cars as they galloped wildly down roads to an eternal sunset,
Galloping away to valleys and mountains rising from the lowlands,
As the wind blew it's melody like a tuneful band,

Rocks steeply down into the Irish Sea melting into an oasis of sand,
Stretching to more rocks and the fertile land,
Seaweed greasy, brown, green with it's oily sheen,
I was the star of the show with nature as the film began to roll,

About imagination a sensation of passion unleashed,
I loved been a child where nature would never hide,
It's beauty became entwined with my soul just part of my psyche,
Without it would be like the sea without the tide,

My freedom still travels down green roads
To see mountains turning different shades of blue,
In my life i have known hardship but my parents gave me the gift of love,
The skies turn from grey to blue above,

As everything is possible even though I'm impossible,
My dream lives on with wild galloping horses,
Thundering down the highway of my broken past,
When I was always the girl that was last,

Now I savour my aloneness, my passion and my memories,
Even as the horses gallop wildly away so fast.

This is so peaceful, green and wonderful work of you. I really enjoyed reading it, to imagine, to feel your feeling and to lost in that scene... This is wonderful really it is. You should try to listen to natasha bedingfield-wild horses... The rush of the wind feel complimentary to your beautiful work.

An evocative and idyllic poem, dense and profound in composition, exuding the delight and the cheerfulness of childhood years. The envision of wild horses is most beautiful! A delightful poem!

Now you know I could never resist a poem with horses in its title! ! ! ! My Achilles heel! ! ! ! And am I ever glad that I clicked on this poem and read this gorgeous sensitive lush poetic beautiful gorgeous... oh, dear I begin to repeat myself. I loved the flow of these lines - -the way they galloped into the hills with head held high...You made this poem SING, girl, with every breath it took. Those first four lines set me down in that lush green and fertile brown and stone-gray countryside of yours- - - - - - - - - - - -dang, those lines are perfection, Hazel! ! ! But that is just the beginning of the ride this poem takes us on. You capture the innocent selfishness of a child with this line- -I was the star of the show with nature as the film began to roll, - - it's not a mean selfishness- -it is the natural soul of a child interacting with her environment with all the senses she has. Gorgeous! My freedom still travels down green roads To see mountains turning different shades of blue, In my life i have known hardship but my parents gave me the gift of love, - - - - - - - - - You releases the hearts and souls of your readers with these lines. Brilliant word choice- -not gaudy, not overblown but words that travel sharp as an arrow to its target and kill us with their simple natural beauty! The closing? ? ? Magnificent...dignified... powerful... and call like a siren to the readers' imagination My dream lives on with wild galloping horses, Thundering down the highway of my broken past, When I was always the girl that was last, Now I savour my aloneness, my passion and my memories, Even as the horses gallop wildly away so fast. This is beyond a 10- -it is a 10 times a gazillion billion! ! Into my fav poem list it goes and I fervently hope to see this as Poem of the Day! ! ! !
