Why Me? Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Why Me?

Rating: 4.8

Why the cycle of fortune
Does not turn for me and
Seems to be in perpetual rest,
Why the sky is rosy for you
Success kisses your feet and
You have a habit of riding the crest,

Why between us anything bad-
Since my birth to till date-
Always happens to me first;
Whatever good I have tasted,
And accolades I received,
They have come to me at the last,

Why soothing words from me,
Makes them think I am fake and
Turns a piece of gold into dust,
You bath in warmth of love
Sun is made to glow upon you,
My heart is made to cry and rust,

Why is it so with me?
Is it a retribution I am paying,
For wrong done in past life?
It is difficult to pass a single day,
Sans a struggle to fill my belly,
Hoping an end to sorrow and strife,

Forsaken by the cruel world,
As a bad omen I roam the street,
Without any refuge and care,
You get a crowd behind you
To sing your success and rise,
To stand before you I can’t dare,

For how long will it go on?
Is there an end to this cruel war,
Will there ever emerge a new dawn?
I wait for the time when success will
Kiss my hand, and I won’t think,
Into this world, I should not have been born.

Wish you best of luck. Mind you my wishes have never gone in vain. (9)

Your poem is full of emotion and despair. I find your last stanza and line especially hauntingly desperate. In my own poem/song Heyyy! Why is life so mean? I wrote Heyyy, Why is Life so Mean? Heyyy, Why are People so Mean? Everyone else's life is always a dream! It's enough to make you want to scream! When the world comes crashing down, it's only on you! It's like the world has nothing better to do! Because we all feel like that sometimes. We all feel like other people have it easy and we have it twice as hard. And it's normal to feel that way but you must never ever think that you should never have been born. No matter how hard your life is, you were given life for a reason, you must find what that reason is even if it takes someplace you didn't know you needed to go.

Sometimes it looks like fate will never give us an helping hand, but sometimes the wait is worth while, a great poem.
