Where Did The Time Go? Poem by Melody Stargaze

Where Did The Time Go?

You're three years old, sittin' on grandpa's lap,
The rain is falling from the skies.
He's humming a song so you'll take a nap.
Slowly you close your eyes.

Where did the time go?

It's the first day of elementary school,
And you're scared to death.
You and your light-up shoes looking cool,
You go to class with Ms. Marybeth.

Where did the time go?

Today is your first middle school dance,
You like that boy Bill.
You try to talk to him but you don't get the chance,
Because he ends up going with that cheerleader Jill.

Where did the time go?

It's Senior night, and you're on the field with the band.
They call your name.
You walk to the front, flag in hand.
And when they applaud you, you bask in the fame.

Where did the time go?

Guess what? It's your wedding day.
You're marrying your knight.
You have been waiting for this and you pray,
That you and him will have a magical wedding night.

Where did the time go?

'One more push' says the doctor,
Your son is here.
Beaming with joy, you say to your husband,
'His name is Joey, right dear? '

Where did the time go?

Looking back on all of the things you've had,
You smile to yourself.
Though you should be happy, you're sad,
It's all just pictures on a shelf.

Where did the time go?
