Haunting Memories Poem by Melody Stargaze

Haunting Memories

You called it quits and left me,
So I bit my tongue and stepped aside quietly.
It hurt like you wouldn't believe,
But I know you had to leave.

We were friends again, but then stuff went down,
You accused me of things like a stupid old clown.
Now I have no idea whether you are okay or not,
Love is something you must have forgot.

I was okay for a while there,
At least I wasn't pulling out my hair.
It hurt for only a moment or two,
Then I'd forget all about you.

Now, you're haunting my dreams,
Is this one of your revenge schemes?
Last night was dream number two,
You asked me to get back with you.

I saw you in my dreams, sad as could be,
You talked to me, You held me, You pleaded to me.
I know that's not the real you,
But I want that so badly from you.

And it's not like I can talk about it to anyone,
Knowing all of this? I'm the only one.
Everyone thinks I hate you,
I just need to mask my real feelings for you.

No one really liked you from the get go,
But I loved you whether they said yes or no.
You meant the world to me,
And now I trudge on miserably.

You took a big part of me when you left,
You commited theft.
My heart is gone, and I can't seem to find it,
I'm still in love you, with every last bit.

I just don't know what to do,
Without you.
You're just a haunting memory,
And the worst part is I know you're not sorry.
