What went wrong….
- - - - - - - - - - -
Shining was the fair noon
In bright and clear light
And it would pass anon
When heard a wistful cry
From a house nearby
Near and dear ones
Rustling in and out
And reasons sought out
What went wrong as to
Hale and hearty yesterday
Looking down and out today
Even some furthered away
To the extent of faltering
Like, is it the inevitable day?
Seemed a voice within said
No hues of afternoon seen
The sun was setting
And on faces worn and wan
Evening dews gently settling
And tears rolling down his cheeks
Blank eyes staring
Wished to say something
As if before him memories
Of past days flashing
Love, pride, vanity, and prejudice
All seemed queuing up
To tease and please him
Young and bold
Blessed with not many years
God pitied him a few minutes more
Holding his breath intact
Before his dearest arrived
And reasons sought out
What went wrong as to
So sudden and abrupt
Like a floweret crushed
By ruthless tread…….
A Beautiful poem. Death happen so suddenly, it doesn't spare even the hale and healthy. It's a beautiful question asked What went wrong? Nothing is predictable in our life. Anything can happen any time.... I loved reading each lines.....
a beloved's death is never timely but manifold is the grief when death comes abruptly.
What went wrong is not clearly mentioned... but it is to be assumed that the man is grieving over someone's untimely and premature death! Is it his beloved who has been snatched away by the hands of fate or his dear child? 'A flowerlet is crushed down by ruthless tread'! A poignant write! The man's plight is movingly narrated and a suspense created from the very beginning and retained till the end! Great write, Deepak!
