Unforgettable Lessons Poem by Muhiba Naik

Unforgettable Lessons

Life taught me to be patient
as it takes time to learn
It taught me to say No
when I wanted to say so
I learnt to be not too nice
for then I may be questioned
And I learnt to smile covering the pain
for my tears may hurt others.

But alas! I learnt to tell a lie
when truth hurt somebody
And I learnt to move on
caring not the least for worst
I learnt to be a part of cloud
that took me from dirt to fog
And I learnt to hate my people around
when I thought them to be bad...
I learnt to judge good and bad
when I knew only a part.
I learnt to lend a helping hand
Only for my selfish gains
And I learnt to disguise myself
wearing a coat of beauty
Hiding the jealousy inside...

And now I regret for admiring
the mirror too much
That showed a girl who had disguised
to cheat the circle around
But foolish of her to let herself
Be cheated by her own disguise
