Two Hearts Poem by Dillon McKenna

Two Hearts

Rating: 4.5

Let me see you for who you are, remove the blinders from my eyes,
Take a chance on an honest heart, we've both had enough of lies.
You and I both want the same thing, a love free of pain and fear,
Comfort when we feel the sting, belief when we see the tears.

Lean in closer and confess to me, I'd forgive you for anything,
You know I'll never let you be, and I know that you'll take me in.
Until now I've been a man in misery, a solitary winner,
Won't you spare a little sympathy for an involuntary sinner?

Just as the ink is to the page, and the candle is to the flame,
Just as the play is to the stage, and the wild is to the tame.
So is my heart to yours, each only a half of a whole,
Just a part in need of more, a fluttering flag without a pole.
