Two Bells For Christmas

TWO BELLS FOR CHRISTMAS

It's close to the holidays and children s stories you must tell
Of how Christmas came about and the ringing of the bells.
A village boy heard about the birth of JESUS and came running to see
And took his two bells to play a melody.
JESUS heard the bells and smiled with joy as this melody
Was played by the village boy.
This was the first Christmas music that is played to this day
It is called SILENT NIGHT when people kneel to pray.
the song was put together when the town bells could not ring
and the people stood in the square to praise the LORD and sing.
A gift is not a gift if it is not given with love
And the LORD will know it as he watches from above.
Just find two bells and make this tradition last
Of how the future is hooked up with the past.

A sweet poem just in time for the holidays! I've heard of the Little Drummer Boy, but had never heard of the village boy with the bells. But I've heard 'Silent Night' played by a handbell choir, and it is absolutely lovely!

the story of how the song silent night is a true story (so they say) when the church bells could not ring, and of course I made it into a story.
