This Life Poem by Viola Grey

This Life

Rating: 4.1

So hard - this life-
times test
even the strongest heart,
deepening scars
our fathers laid.
Impressionable eyes
seek knowledge in lies,
understanding nothing
while hearing all.
Searching our youth
we see a world of fear,
step unseen
into danger's arms.
Knowing ourselves
comes with a price -
we pay as we go
for a chance at life.
For what can we give,
that appeases our soul,
except control
and our hearts desire.
Scared of tomorrow
we step into age
with knowledge procured
in dangerous ways,
with lessons learnt
from earlier days.

As we stride down lifes road, we learn by experience, which sometimes enables us to deal with what we find around the next bend. Tango.
