The Quintessential Complainers Poem by Hebert Logerie

The Quintessential Complainers

Democracy is having the birthright to complain
It is more than a solemn privilege
Countries where people who are in pain
Who swallow willfully or cowardly their rage
Die slowly in a very poor or destitute state
Democracy can be a very compatible mate
Countries where people freely complain
The most are richer, happier and cleaner
True democracy is where even a toddler
Knows he or she has the right to be safe, sane
Healthy, educated, and well fed at an early age
Having an opinion is a birthright, not a privilege
Breathe and complain as much as you want to improve
All around you. Blame and castigate the president
Or the highest officials if things are poor and indecent
Poverty is the result of bad governance and theft. We love
Where we are living, we must fight against corruption
We must complain all the time and denounce inaction
Ignorance, injustice, hunger and sheer incompetence
We selected, elected or hired the hungry or corrupt politicians
They work for us, the people. They must do well and deliver
We want justice, peace, better roads and no more hunger

Democracy is having the supreme right to complain
We want to be happy and to be free of pain.
