The Outside Poem by John Hazon Palen

The Outside

I went looking for reasons!
Knew not what I'd find.
I tried outside the line but,
It's dark all season.

Tired of being last to know!
I always feel pain.
The door's lock again was changed.
Their souls were sure low.

Here on the outside I stand!
I can still see them.
Nobody ever lets me in.
This view ain't best one.

I sniffed this midsummer's breeze!
It's a bit awkward.
Their creased brows fly all around.
Don't like me noticed.

On the outside, looking in,
We're in no circle!
They get my presence ignored.
How could they be mean?

Their satisfaction's my tears!
Well, let them have it.
Just dance sadness with the beat,
Harsh fate has its end.
You wait for your years.
