The Last Moment Poem by Venkateswaran Krishnan Sreenivasan

The Last Moment

Death was staring at my face and grinning
Today, your darling and you, days after
You seem to be gloating over your winning
You have no valid reasons for laughter

Death comes to all unannounced
No hello or hype pronounced
Wonderstruck and bewildered you die
To be borne and laid on the grave to lie

The moment you arrive on this stage with a cry
You begin your journey forward to die
Bit by bit, death takes its bite
As if it were its birthright
