The Girl Who Cries Poem by Silence Dogood

The Girl Who Cries

Rating: 5.0

Everyday I pass the girl who always cries the one everyone makes fun of for wearing black all the time. You'd never see her smile never hear her laugh. You can see she tries to be happy but always fails. On most days I pass her by with my head bowed down staring at my feet. This time I see her slumped against the fence at recess not crying but wearing a frown.I go and say hi and ask whats wrong. She doesnt awnser for a while then she cracks a pityful smile and says'Why bother smiling when Its fake anyways why laugh when everyone can hear the note of despair why bother hiding your tears if your going to cry them? 'I dont know why but it makes sense why be fake why pretend when its not going to change anything? I sit by her and we chat for a while and at the end she really smiles and she even waves goodbye. The next day I sit with her again and im starting think that were becoming friends but I dont mind I like her.Everyday I do the same thing and I start to see that her usually red eyes are a nice green that her smile isnt so pityful anymore.I ask her this and you know what she says'all I needed was someone to care someone to be there when I cried to see my tears and ask why? 'It turns out all she needed was a friend someone to be there to pull her through the pain to catch her when she falls. And im glad to say that because i stopped when she cried maybe not the first time but I did something more then anyone else she smiles. And soon maybe she'll even laugh and maybe her eyes will always stay green.

The girl in your story is very lucky to find you as her new friend. I remember like yesterday going to new schools and not knowing anyone. A very empty feeling and I valued my new friends. I give you a 10 for your fresh honesty. Keep writing and sharing with us. Warm Wishes, Marilyn
