Marilyn Lott Poems

The world is wide with wonder
For everything is new
A child’s mind is like a sponge
Or like a flower sipping morning dew
...

Three ducks pecked around
In a garden one warm day
They wore beautiful coats
Of white feathers to display
...

Sometimes I kind of feel sad and bored
So I decide to have a little chat with the Lord
I tell Him just what has been bothering me
I know He understands and He will see
...

He works so hard every day
Doing pretty much what he’s told
The days slowly turn into years
As his life carefully unfolds
...

The most important thing to me
When spring is on the rise
Are all the lovely colors
Of flowers before my eyes.
...

He is a beautiful kitty cat
Frank is his name
And around the barnyard
He has risen to fame
...

She gets out there and hustles
She does her very best
It’s all about the teamwork
And winning is her quest
...

There is a place called Hope, Arkansas
Where a little boy grew up
No one ever dreamed that one day
His name would be on a special cup
...

I love a hamburger that is cooked just right
Sliced tomato, onion and a pickle too
A sandwich of chicken or turkey is nice
So many choices that we can pursue
...

It looked just like a cowboy song
Cows meandering along the fence
Sun dropped down and sent colors
Across the sky with a bit of suspense
...

It was the first day of winter
With hat and coat snug and tight
Outside my booted feet crunched
For it had snowed all night.
...

Do you ever watch the sunset
And just sit and think about things
Just you and the sky and darkness
Giving your thoughts some wings
...

Did you ever get so weary
That you think you can’t go on?
You reach inside yourself
To find a part that may be strong?
...

Oh what fun when it snows
It's a little boy's delight
To tromp around in snow knee deep
His world so crystal and white
...

The 13 colonies were the beginning
Of the beautiful country we know
Folks gathered from other places
To find a new place in which to go
...

I trudged my way across the land
I tried so hard to take a stand
Doing what the good book said
Sometimes veering off the road instead.
...

It was a buffet to remember
With a lovely Hawaiian theme
Food so fresh and flavorful
It was truly a food critic's dream
...

I’m so thrilled about my day
And I’d like to share it with you
It’s Sunday once again
I have a date with God, it’s true
...

The life that I have lived as a poet
Has always messed with my head
It doesn't matter if I'm busy
Or lying nearly asleep in my bed.
...

He was just a little kid
In a kid’s kind of world
Examining the places
Where the red dirt swirled
...

Marilyn Lott Biography

I've loved poetry my entire life beginning with poems my parents read to my brother and me from the Jr. Classics. My husband and I travel all over this beautiful country and I enjoy writing poems about my travels. We have twenty acres in Montana with such beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I enjoy taking pictures with my digital camera. I have written hundreds of poems for John McCornack's web pages. John sends me a page with the wonderful pictures he takes and I write a poem that will snuggle into the page. What a challenge that is for me! My poems have been published in True Love and True Romance magazines as well as several anthologies. Recently my poem Arches National Park (posted here on Poem Hunter) was published in a text book for children ages 15-16. The company is Pearson Learning and based in Singapore. I love to write about the simple life and how faith and hope is always there and that tomorrow is a fresh new beginning.)

The Best Poem Of Marilyn Lott

A Child’s Mind

The world is wide with wonder
For everything is new
A child’s mind is like a sponge
Or like a flower sipping morning dew

I love to watch them question
Every single thing
You never know what is next
And what each day will bring

Perhaps we too should open
Our minds deliciously
And see the world as a child does
How exciting life would be!

Marilyn, hi, my name is Susie, and live in Kentucky, I too enjoy a bit of poetic prose, mostly written in the form of love gifts in my families birthday cards…and also really enjoy taking pictures too, but just now, between fixing the coffee pot for the morning, and seeing what I need to do next before bed…just wanted to come and tell you how much I enjoy your poem '' Chocolate Pie ''. I just made one today for my daughters husband. I made it from our ''Memama's recipe. She was the best cook, and at all family functions, her greatly anticipated Chocolate Pie, sat waiting for us right beside her just as sweetly savored coconut cake… Your poem was tender and sweet…. So glad to have had the privilege to read it…. Have a great night, God Bless.. Susie-q, from KentuckyLand

Carried away by the sway of sunflowers Marilyn. It's for these simple things in life that we yearn for, the merry little petals that make us come alive each time we see them...
