Star Spangled Skies Poem by Hazel Durham

Star Spangled Skies

Rating: 5.0

She misses him, his earthly ways,
Pruning his roses with his expert eyes,
Then night would fall
As he would watch star spangled skies

In a wise way, dismissing the lies
Of a shallow world that will fall
Where money, greed grows wild as weeds,
Her man loved his land and doing good deeds,

He spoke softly with an enquiring mind that sowed original seeds,
Tea drinking was a must for celebration or mourning,
She misses his blunt talk and his all engaging love
For her that reached star spangled skies adorning,

Over the vast dark bog with twinkling stars above,
Her man dies
Everyday he looks at her without hope or recognition
Only confusion from Alzheimer's ammunition,

The gun has been loaded
Her man dies every day
As she watches for a sign of his earthly ways,
His unique wisdom and he was solid and strong,

He never did anything wrong,
Oh why is he gone
As she goes out to their back garden neat and long
She looks up at star spangled skies

And she cries,
For the loss of a gentle man.
This greedy world she defies,
To have known such a man of kindness and love,

All that is left is his shining star spangled skies above!

Night would definitely fall on watching with stars in memories. Shining star spangle skies above! Her man dies and in every look she thinks about twinkling of stars. For loss of gentleman she cries. This poem amazingly carries grief and joy. This is excellently penned with expression of emotion...10

Over the vast dark bog with twinkling stars above, Her man dies Everyday he looks at her without hope or recognition Only confusion from Alzheimer's ammunition, I have seen so many old persons who been suffering from alzheimer diseases, loss of memory and disability to recognize the loved ones is really painful for the loved ones. Hazel Durham has successfully described these pains, and wrote a touching poem.

A very touching write Hazel! As he suffered from Alzheimer, he couldn't even recognize her towards the end! But she has only sweet memories of him who remained a gentleman through out! Now after his death, she misses him greatly and looks at the star spangled sky which he loved much, may be to spot him!

Alzheimer's. No evil tyrant can come up with a worse torture than this disease that tears down the person and destroys the sweet memories or at least covers them up with pain for the family of the victim... but I am encouraged to see there was still star-spangled skies to remind the survivor of this lovely man and the love they shared most every night..
