Snake Song Poem by W.I. Stoneberger

Snake Song

I like the blues
the way they slink & slide & slither
up on you
like Cleopartra's serpent
& gently but firmly
wrap themselves around you
& tug at you softly steadily
the way they entwine in the hairs of evening
& breeze & rattle thru your brain
& hiss smoothly in your ear
& sink the fangs in
just an inch or 2
& turn to you & smile
before delivering the death blow.
