Shoulders: ...[ If You Are Averse To Or Bored By Sexual References, You May Not Like One Of This Collection Of Limerick Poem ]

Rating: 5.0

Languishing [[ adjective: failing to make progress or be successful ]]
is not a pleasant 'boat' to be in, & being a 'languishing poem' is stressful,
....for sure!

Now I shall write some limericks***** which, quite likely, are likely to languish,
bringing their poet [me] AND these 5-lined, rhyming poems, alas, much anguish!

***** [1st,2nd, & 5th lines 'should' rhyme]]

# 1: Sunshine On My Shoulder(s)

Despite J. D. 's stirring song words,
I think SUNSHINE is 'for the birds! '
'Give me CLOUDS' I say.
'Give me rain each day! '
To me, sun-worshipers are NERDS**! !

** NERD: 'The noun nerd is used to describe someone who is an
expert in one particular thing, like computers, grammar, or 'Star Wars'
movies. Nerd can also mean someone lacking social skills, or a geeky,
awkward person. The word nerd was popularized in the 1950s after
showing up in the 1950 Dr. Seuss book 'If I Ran the Zoo'.'

# 2: She Gave Me 'The Cold Shoulder' ***

My classmate gave me the 'cold shoulder',
saying: 'I prefer men......much older.'
I was depressed for a week.
With prayer, solace I did seek.
I acted nonplussed **** but inside I did smolder.

***
cold shoulder [when used as a noun]:
'a show of intentional unfriendliness'

****
Nonplussed:
'INFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN
(of a person) not disconcerted; unperturbed.'

# 3: Shouldering Their 'Burden': Five Children

My parents were a wonderful pair,
caring for us in 'weather, foul or fair'.
In sickness & in health,
in poverty & wealth,
Mom & Dad were forever 'there'.

#4: A (female) Cop* Pulls Over** A (female) Speeder

The speeder was CUTE.....AND having fun.
The cop looked tough, AND carried a gun.
'Hello' .....said 'Miss Cute'.
Cop said: 'Put out*** or I shoot.'
Then cop copped a feel****. THAT is a pun!

Use your 'dictionary'/computer' to find definitions OR ask ME!

* COP

** PULL OVER

*** PUT OUT

**** COP A FEEL

[maybe look up 'pun' also! ! ]

Come on, PH. Do your stuff! !
