September Ashes
Oh September..
how you come to us covered with ashes?
how you whisper to us in tears,
We who roped to grief,
then dance over our hearts?
How you come to us
smudged in clouds of sorrow
Blocking breezes of love,
and blowing death?
How you come to us
while we arrange over the marble,
farewell ritual, from palm frond,
perfume dawn to wash grief's face
then blowing ashes, over heart leaves?
