Sad Jazz Soul (Lyrics) Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Sad Jazz Soul (Lyrics)

Rating: 5.0

You see me like a dream on fire
You see feathered wings line my back
The girl who has it all
White and golden stars
in a paradise land

They say my smile lights a room up
They see my picture and wish to be
The girl who lives under blue skies
Always sunshine
Where the grass is green

Oh, no.
You'll never see.
Oh, no.
You'll never see

I get sad in this mind of mine
And I cry by the poolside
Tears glimmer in the sun
My barefeet try to touch the ground
And this life may be made with gold
But my heart's not unbreakable
I'm just another sad jazz soul
Just another sad jazz soul
In a million dollar world.

You say my hair is filled with fire
A curly mess, I'm wild like summer
My 70's neat shades
Beside your laughter
Thinking of a cooler time

They see my yard of turquoise heaven
They wish for its hot taste and breeze
blends of colour make
A pretty dream of
Beauty, flowers and trees

Oh, no.
I'll never be free.
Oh, no.
I'll never be free.

I get sad in this mind of mine
And I cry by the poolside
Tears glimmer in the sun
My barefeet try to touch the ground
And this life may be made with gold
But my heart's not unbreakable
I'm just another sad jazz soul
Just another sad jazz soul
In a million dollar world.

I talk like I'm the queen of freedom
Like I can go when I need to
and fly-y, fly baby fly

Inside I know I'm freedom's prisoner
Inside I get scared I'll never let
My jazz soul, go baby go

'Cause I get sad in this mind of mine
I cry by the poolside
While tears glimmer in the sun
My barefeet try to touch the ground
And this life has been paved with gold
But baby, that's not what this girl wants
I'm just another sad jazz soul
Singing the blues for all I'll never have

Oh, no. I'll never walk free.
Oh, no. Not as long as they love me.
