Our Private Trove Poem by Khairul Ahsan

Our Private Trove

Rating: 4.9

We all have a private corner in our heart,
A soft, cozy corner, where is kept
A fancy box, delicately wrapped,
That contains some of our fanciful thoughts.

That secret box is seldom opened,
For it cannot be opened except in privacy,
And in absolute, reclusive solitude.
It can be shared with no one, however dear!

One has to carry this box for a whole life,
May be years after years, without opening it.
The right time and emotion comes
Only on a sad, somber day, when struck with grief!

That's the day when one quietly retires
To a secluded space, frequented only by some
Gray surreal thoughts, incorporeal thoughts, which
Suddenly unleash corporeal memories of bygone days!

Memories that are overwhelmingly sad but yet sweet,
Memories that make us feel light if forgotten,
Yet weigh heavily when per chance remembered.
Our beating heart is often unaware of their gross weight.

Truly beautiful words Khairul, particularly on this sombre day. Yet for me I do not have this. I talk about death quite a lot for it is a part of life. Thank You for these wonderful words.

A Beautiful poem with a painful flow of words. Memories that are sad but sweet, Memories that occupy less space But weigh very heavily. Our beating Heart often unaware of their weight. Beautiful presentation. Loved reading it.
