No Politics Please, My Friends Poem by Hebert Logerie

Frankly, it is sad to say
To keep politics away, out of the way
Politics run our lives
And everything these days
Politics is in the air
Politics can be good and fair
Politics build the streets, the roadways
And keep the documents and the archives
Oh! Yes, we tend to forget that the nefarious politicians
Are the ones who give politics a bad and ugly name
The warmongers are omnipresent; they have no shame
Moreover, they're like the bad magicians
The vicious and fiendish criminals who are destroying
The very fibers of our society and the environment
My friends, politics can be considered a good thing
For our world which needs better governance/government
Yes, indeed, it has become very difficult to keep
Very nasty and filthy rich people out of politics
Because they're like bad words that we must bleep
They're like bad worms, dangerous ticks
That no insecticides can virtually or totally eradicate
At this time, we're worried about our fate
About our future, about tomorrow
Our eyes are wet and our heart full of sorrow
Our votes are stolen. The election ads are full of lies
Too many maniacs are now candidates
Even when we choose the least evils
We lose; they win. Money and devils
Are like twins. Money is the sweet baits
Attracting all kinds of deft and shrewd criminals
God, what do we do with these ferocious animals?
God, we need your daily light, advice and protection
Please, take care of the bad ones before the next elections.
