Nature Poem by Matt Lewis

Nature

Rating: 5.0

My nature is bleak
I am the way I am
The front faces outwards there is peace here
A surface of tranquil wax
A shell across a deep pool of boiling acid
I hate
Close to the edge, my nature dictates
When i least expect it I ruin that which I treasure most
I tear the fruits of my life from their tree
Holding them I turn them sour
They decay in my clenched fist
I feed the caustic pulp to those around me until they choke
Forcing those who can save me away
I destroy
I want to punish those who have betrayed
those who have let me down
The worthlessness sticks in my stomach like a shard
I know I should punish this self hate most
Looking into a mirror and hating what I see
What I have done to myself
I wish there was no punishment, no destruction, no hate
The inner war against the side of me I ignore
Nature has its reasons

1) You wrote in your BIO: As you might have guessed I'm not a poet, English literature enthusiast, well educated or even very smart.
