My Baby And I Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

My Baby And I

Watched the wife
earlier tonight.
Head bobbing
eyes shut tight.

She looked so tired.
All worn down.
I tried to be quiet.
Didn't want to make a sound.

My baby and I
have been such a pair.
We cling to each other
because we care.

The years have been long
but we made it through.
My baby and I
somehow we knew.

Knew that our love
would carry the day.
Give us strength
to make our way.

Now we've arrived
at that time in our life,
happy with 'us'
to warm our nights.

My baby and I

Was watching my wife nodding off while watching television. She'd had a rough day at work.
