Ode To Baltimore Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

Ode To Baltimore

Rating: 5.0

Rode by houses
I lived in in the day
Now boarded-up relics
wood rot and decay

Streets were empty
No people about
No children playing
No happy little shouts

Thought of a time
Not so long ago
When Baltimore was alive
With families on the go

People dreamed dreams
Were neighborly and nice
Now they seem mean
With blood cold as ice

Down Wilhelm to Smallwood
Places in between
Trash and debris
Streets not so clean

Saddened by the sights
I saw today
Just didn't seem right
Should never be okay

I pulled onto Wilkens Ave.
To drive out of town
Left Baltimore behind
A city going down

Hello Lawerence. This is the sad state of so many places which once were beautiful, peaceful and wonderful places to live. I enjoyed this trip back to Baltimore. Loyd C Taylor
