Matchless. Poem by Nicco Muegge

Matchless.

the bees know your name,
the birds sing your praise,
the clouds flow with your hair
and for you, these are normal days.

tell me how your eyes shine so bright
just when i feel so down
and the hairs of your head count
themselves aloud when you frown.

its hard for me to love you,
when everything else already does,
and the goddess looking down knows
you are already everything she ever was.

your ways perplex me, please do explain,
how at your word all the worlds
would stop what they're doing
to watch as your hair curls.

i cannot fathom the density of love
you have received from everything
and everyone all alike —
after all this, how could just be loving me?
