Lilting Limericks To Help Me Pass Some Time
1 - Our Dad
Dad was quiet but did ….a good job.
At 'work' and home, he was no slob.
I didn't know him well …
but will say he was swell.
His name was Robert aka Bob.
--------------------------------------------------------
2 - Our Mom
Mom, with Dad's help, raised us well.
If some say 'not', I say 'Go to H++L!
She gave me hugs, liked or not;
if called for, she'd give a swat.
At times upon her memory I'll dwell.
-----------------------------------------------------
3 - Sister 'Birdie'
When Roberta was born, Mom wished to stop,
but, in five years, out two more boys did pop.
'Birdie' had her own bedroom;
married, away she did zoom.
I think most of her life has been tip-TOP.
---------------------------------------------------------
4 - Brother Don, My Oldest Brother
Don, not Donald, took his time to marry,
post-siblings 'Birdie', 'Tom', 'Bri' and Terry.
Career choices came first,
and military, ….not worst.
Still, at home-WORK, the 'ball' he can 'carry'.
-----------------------------------------------------------
5 - Brother Terry, My Next-to-the-oldest Brother
Still working (part time) and high on life,
he raised a son's son, with help from his wife.
He's so outgoing, it's true,
…….with energy for TWO!
Terry, I'll take some of yours. Here's my knife.
----------------------------------------------------------------
6 - Bother [I Mean Brother] Tom, The Younger One
Tom, as a younger man, was kind of wild.
I'll say he was wild even as a child.
He snuck booze, & prob'ly gals,
stole and gave 'gifts' to some pals.
Settled down for years, he's NOW nearly mild.
--------------------------------------------------------
7 - Two Brothers Who Died, Robert & James
Mom's first two died; I think I've the right names,
Robert named for Dad. I don't know about James.
Tom and I'd not be alive;
Mom wouldn't have more than five.
Neither would I. Life's more than babes and games.
--------------------------------------------------------
8 - Brian, Me, The Nature Boy And Poet Of Our Family
No siblings were a Nature's Child like me.
I think none of them ever climbed a tree,
to gaze at a nest with ease,
or to just feel a fine breeze.
All five of us turned out fine, don't you see?
