Introductory Poem:
I've entered 5 poems below from five of my PoemHunter friends.
Let's hope this site, though imperfect, unlike ME, never ends.
I think all the poets, below, are still alive, and I hope they're well.
If not alive, I SURELY HOPE none of them end up in.........H++L.

1 - For Little Vyomi On Her First Birthday (12th June 2023)
Poem by Bharati Nayak
For Little Vyomi On Her First Birthday (12th June 2023)
Your smile, so innocent, so cute
It brightens up my day as I hold you
What are you thinking, little baby?
Does your Grandma's lap feel like a soft cushion?
Do you want to tell, how you love me?
Do you want to be cuddled and loved?
When you smile, my glooms get vanished
All worries are dissipated
I find my childhood in your baby smile
So lovely, so adorable!
Little angel, May God's blessings
Be with you always.
May He protect you in all difficulties
May He guide you on the path of truth
With His mercy, may you grow up
To be a loving and kind human being.

2 - Could A Fish Be The Cause Of Our Disagreement? (Is A Fish In Between Us - A Bone Of Contention?)
Poem by M. Asim Nehal
Could A Fish Be The Cause Of Our Disagreement? (Is A Fish In Between Us - A Bone Of Contention?)
My friends affirm that I am an adept at cooking fish, flawlessly, although my spouse disagrees, vehemently.
She claims I always overdo the cooking,
but I find them just right, without any mistaking.
I prefer mine crispy, she likes them tender,
our opinions differ, but we won't surrender.
So, we stuck a deal, as all great partners do,
I'll cook them her way, and she'll cook them mine too.
Together we'll experiment, and hopefully, we'll find,
a method to prepare fish that pleases our combined mind.
We have been endeavoring for past two decades or so,
but haven't reached anywhere to resolve our woe.

Topic(s) of this poem: husband, wife, fighting, humorous, lessons of life
Bri's Notes: line 6: I've suggested 'struck' in place of 'stuck', ha ha.
Let's have NO, or very little, fighting in the kitchen. Save it for the living
room! !

3 - Some
Poem by Jim McGill
Some
Some do
Some don't
Some will
Some won't
Some can
Some can't
Some shall
Some shan't
Some there
Some here
Some smile
Some snear
Some listen
Some talk
Some praise
Some mock
Some polite
Some rude
Some gallant
Some crude
Some cower
Some fearless
Some cheery
Some cheerless
Some bright
Some dull
Some collect
Some cull
Some start
Some finish
Some fat
Some thinnish
Some hide
Some show
Some search
Some know
Some stop
Some go
Some reap
Some sow
Some first
Some last
Some slow
Some fast
Some get
Some give
Some die…
Some live

4 - Happy Father's Day
Poem by James McLain
Happy Father's Day
On this day, dear father, we gather with glee,
To celebrate your love and the man you be.
With a heart full of gratitude, we honor your way,
Happy Father's Day, our words cannot convey.
You've been a guiding light through every storm,
Teaching us values, keeping our spirits warm.
Your laughter, your wisdom, forever we'll hold,
A bond so strong, more valuable than gold.
You've taught us to dream and to always aspire,
To face life's challenges with unyielding fire.
Your gentle strength, a beacon in the night,
Through your love, we've learned what's truly right.
In your embrace, we found solace and care,
A rock in our lives, always willing to share.
You've shown us the power of a father's embrace,
With your presence, our hearts find endless grace.
Today and always, we honor your name,
In our hearts, your love forever shall remain.
Happy Father's Day, a tribute to you,
For the joy and love you continually imbue.

Topic(s) of this poem: Fathers, celebrate
Bri's Notes: Well SOME fathers may be stinkers (look up the word!) , BUT...
someone once said something like THIS: 'Judge not lest yea be judged.', ...
'yea' meaning 'you'. You can look up 'lest'. ;)

5 - I'll Hold You Close
Poem by Jayne Louise Davies
I'll Hold You Close
Distant memories lost in time,
I close my eyes and think of you.
Memories of the way we were,
Glaze my eyes, like morning dew.
I hear your voice so clearly now,
A loving smile, lights up your face.
We walk together, hand in hand,
Then head for home, that special place.
I miss your love, I miss those times,
The love you shared, your love for me.
It broke my heart, you fell asleep,
No greater friend will ever be.
I'll hold your memory close to heart,
Your love will flow within my veins.
I'll hold you close, right to the end,
My dear Mum, we'll meet again.

NOW to write my Introductory Poem!
My work is done. Now let's see if PH will accept it. :)
2) Thank You, Bri for putting together another splendid showcase. You always do a great job. I shall revisit these poems and comment on them separately.
Richard, you and other readers/commenters are to be thanked for your interest in my showcases, usually monthly events. Thanks!
Bri, as always, an excellent showcase! I loved all of the poems. They all had something special to offer. From love to devotion to humour...it was all there! Bharati's poem had so very deeply moved me. I thought of my godmother as I was reading it.
Thank you Bri : ) As you can detect by my reply, that I'm still alive(just) Lovely to see my poem featured in your showcase : ) Don't underestimate me though : ) I can pounce at anytime : ) lol x
I DID detect some evidence that YOU are, indeed, probably, ALIVE. But, online 'one never knows'! ! ! ;)
BUT, ....PH IS STILL FREE. ;)))) I guess some members get PH with advertisements, so PH gets money from advertisers. I no longer find ads, and I pay nothing. bri : )
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Here is the comment with my Actual Name S H, Hope your mind is at rest now not WANDERING in Ugly thoughts. This showcase is par excellence. I enjoyed reading all five poems, thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Sando. : )
