If Not For Madness Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

If Not For Madness

If it hadn't been for madness.
Stirred up from hidden kettles,
Brewed by evil doers.
You and I,
Would still sip and buy...
This B.S. marketed,
Believing it to be...
The best creation,
To horde store and keep...
As a means that kept,
Our mentalities healthy.
Only to discover,
This deceiving concoction...
Had us fighting each other.
Our sisters, brothers, fathers...
And our beloved mothers.
For a nonstop profit.
Far from our pockets to put it!

Thank God,
We finally awakened to realize...
How could we do to each other,
The ones already disparaged.
Disenfranchised.
And suffering through,
Every injustice there is.
Yet made to accept,
Our pockets to have...
Had only dust in them to touch.
And for decades.
Would suddenly be filled up,
If we stayed to fight each other...
Over visions of gold,
At the end of rainbows.
Painted in bold colors.
To imagine this as reality.
After sipping on a brew,
Made by evil doers to addict...
Minds to believe,
Confict, division and havoc...
All around them to have it.
Is that path that leads,
To peace, harmony...
And impressive individual,
Independent prospersity!
With a pretentiousness,
Kept to flaunt it had to brag!

If it had not been for madness,
You and I...
Would still be left,
Deceived, tricked and duped.
Rushing to buy,
A quality of life to fiction it.
To obtain maintained,
Through conflict.
Racism.
And the selling to get more of it,
Sipping to addict division!
Sold.
For that pot of gold.
Nowhere around.
Either to see or touch!

'How stupid can fools be? '

-Well...
Thank God,
We were prevented...
To provide evidence and proof! -
