I Want To Be In Your Suburbs Poem by M D Dinesh Nair

I Want To Be In Your Suburbs

Rating: 5.0

In the suburbs of your villages
Is there the moon lit with glow?
Traveling into the midnight skies,
Cutting the clouds like a lightning
Would you like to travel there?

Stark outlines of a doomed sky dark
And the elms on pristine snow we can see here.
Stars do not twinkle here.
In our cities they are never there.

The dots of light that have, as you say
Traveled for centuries unto our midst
Have stopped penetrating through our groves
Beams are not cast into the sky by the light above
And the tale of the neighbouring city is the same.

Sometimes, when I am all alone,
I can travel back to moonlit hills
Of your suburbs attired in winter
And near our shores east and west I shall be.

I want to see again a million stars as well
To feel the gentleness and the warmth
Of wonder that I never knew in our cities
Before our my own eyes, nay our eyes.

One more routine of another part awaits me
In the rhythm that I let go out I am lost perhaps
I want to carry myself through loneliness often
To your suburbs where the moon shines.

Oh my dear poet, you are becoming very poetic and romantic while citing life in the country where moon blooms and stars twinkle full in midnight skies and the charms none could ever miss in hallowed countrysides.......... very well penned Sir...........

With light pollution in cities it is hard to see stars clearly. Urging to see the free sky by night always exists. Nice poem.

mmmmm end note is quite melancholic and sad... remind me elegies of the pre- romantic era i would like to see well knitted rhyme sachem when a poem appears in stanza form. anyhow it's a good romantic write.

Beautiful flow of words from your pen.... I want to carry myself through loneliness often To your suburbs where the moon shines. Is it possible when you carry loneliness along with you, wherever you move around.... can you see moon shining in next suburbs.....

City life deprives is of the joys of the more natural environment, and therefore we need to escape from the city and enjoy looking at the starlit sky which is lost to us through the haze of street lights etc. A well thought-out poem Dinesh.

Stars do not twinkle here....! I want to see again a million stars as well To feel the gentleness and the warmth Of wonder that I never knew in our cities Before our my own eyes, nay our eyes....... Beautiful lines! In the fog and smoke laden skies of the cities, you can never see the stars.. They belong to the clear cerulean sky of the suburbs! ! Lovely poem! !
