I Thought You Had My Back Poem by Hebert Logerie

I Thought You Had My Back

I thought you had my back
Instead, you threw a rock
At me, for no conceivable reasons.

Now, I understand there are lessons
To be learnt every second of the day
Before the sick butterflies fly away.

You can no longer look at me in the eyes
Move on, I don't care about your apple pies
Leave me alone, I am following the birds.

You would kill for pecks, decks and nerds
Life is full of chances, surprises and lucks
And the lakes full of snakes, frogs and ducks.

You repeatedly stabbed me in the back
You seized, confiscated, lied and ransacked
There is a lit candle at the end of the tunnel.

With your behavior, you'll drown in the funnel
Liars never get rewarded for gossips and nonsense
Winners have courage, guts, gusto, and patience.
