I Don'T Know Why Poem by Sandra Martyres

I Don'T Know Why

Rating: 5.0

I don't know why we are the way we are
Why we lie when the truth is often easier
Why we walk past a beggar untouched
When all that it would take to change his mood
Are a few rupees for him to buy some simple food
Why we crib about the state of the nation
Never admitting that it is partly of our creation
Why we choose to believe that the country's ills
Are generally caused by other people's feeble wills
Will we ever try to understand
That no one can clap with only one hand.

It is an enlightening experience to learn you can improve somebody's life with your smile, your kind word, your thoughtfulness, empathy..but it takes courage to reach out to someone, not knowing how they will react. Really a lot of wisdom in here, Sandra. You are a wise, old soul for sure! (smile)
