Dear father

My father, oh, my father

Do not go in silence
Say something!
I feel it on your lips
Say it!

Say it! Say something!
Do not disappear in dumbness
Let it go!
I am in the air in your lungs
Say it!

Do not close your eyelids
Look at me!
I see myself in the waves in your eyes
Say it!

Delay your absence
Look at me and hold me
Like the shadow in your wings

poet Edgar Allan Poe

Kind solace in a dying hour!
Such, father, is not (now) my theme-
I will not madly deem that power
Of Earth may shrive me of the sin
