Cats Poem by Akham Nilabirdhwaja Singh

Cats

Rating: 4.6

A pariah cat, timid
Crossing a busy road
Ran over by a speeding truck.
Vehicle after vehicle
Running over it's corpse
In a few days
It disappeared.

Sleeping reading a poem
In my dream
I saw cats
Coming out of the houses,
Going inside them.

Your sympathy has a long reach. Even when you dream of house cats, you are reminded of the pariah cat's unfortunate lot. Not having a home to return to, that cat ran a greater risk of mortality on the road.

Yes, many don't care much about the life; even, the lives of animals. Thanks for sharing.

The one animal that delights me most is a cat. I too have been pained by such sights! Like dogs, cats too are very affectionate. Your love of cats is very evident from the poem and the tragedy that befell on the pariah cat seems to haunt you even in your dreams!

Your poem shows your love for animals and deep sympathy for a cat that was run over by a speeding truck. It is a common seen on busy roads in India that when a stray animal comes under wheel and lies dying very few people stop to care.It is really pitiful not to have a home.

Its very painful for a sensitive soul to see such tragic happenings. You have written it with great feeling n the impact of such terrible incidents is quite strong.

I am overwhelmed by the emotional appeal of this poem. The tragic death of a pariah cat and its after-shocks to someone who witnessed the scene are terrific. An outstanding poem by all means. This goes into MyPoemList.
