Walterrean Salley Poems

Intoxicated by the inspiration
Of his trade—
With mental powers at work,
A true poet rarely sleeps.
...

Be good to yourself—
You deserve it.

Take care of yourself
...

I thought upon the elderly
And whispered a prayer,
Giving thanks to God
For their sojourn here.
...

Life is all the simple things
That we do and say.
And the much bigger things
That come into play.
...

On this cold, gray-wintry day,
The sun is nowhere to be found.

Listen! I hear the rain:
...

He could've made two—
Another just like you.
But, then, He took
A second thought,
...

O'er fields and fountains,
Resounding in mountains
Is the nightingale's song.
Daffodils glisten
...

Dear Lord, as busy
As You must be,
Don’t forget
The elderly.
...

They come from everywhere
For a stroll in the park
And even the joggers
To make their mark.
...

I saw a diamond
In the sky.
There to sparkle
Way up high.
...

He became rich from
Making others laugh, but he,
Within, only cried.
...

Today should be remembered—
Not only for its feat,
But there's no other like it;
And thus, it is unique.
...

A sparrow perched atop
A roof
Encountered myriads
A spoof
...

Daily, each pens the story
Of his own life:
Letter by letter,
Word by word.
...

Oh, how sweet the rose.
On and on its fragrance goes,
With a heavenly scent.
And when the heart is sore
...

Gifted child. Inspired one,
Whose soul dines in solitaire—
Endowed with inspiration
That he alone can share—
...

</>Fallen warriors, gone too soon:
The best, the brave—bold and bright.
Like a comet thrust from the skies
On a late-summertime night.
...

The fog is an illusion—
A master of disguise,
Which hides the tangible
Before our very eyes.
...

God is in the sun
At the dawning of daylight.
God is in the stars,
And the moon at night.
...

20.

I rely on my faith each day
To walk this pernicious way
And "what a journey, " I must say

The Best Poem Of Walterrean Salley

A Common Addiction Among Poets

Intoxicated by the inspiration
Of his trade—
With mental powers at work,
A true poet rarely sleeps.
His mind ever churning
With powerful imagery
That produces thought,
Sound, rhythm and gesture.
He molds with metaphor,
Shapes with simile,
And paints with irony
Like some great maestro
In his toil to produce
A beautiful symphony
For himself and all who would enjoy.
Little wonder he rarely sleeps.

Salley's poems are simple & effective... wordsworth's theory of poetic diction is still followed, as poetry is the word of every heart, so it should be within the reach of even a lay man.Biology and God stays with me as my favorite... the reader -
