Around The Town Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Around The Town

Rating: 5.0

I walked into the town,
sun tanned and warm;
sloth flies settled on the
plastic shade hanging in
front of the shops; their
wings tightly closed for
the day. Irritated at the
slanted sunray falling on
faces the shop keepers
sat demurely upon stacks
of wheat, shouting at the
haggling customers.
Street lights are on and
sound of bells from the
temple filled the heavy
air. Vehicles stopped in
a crossings to release
fumes that hung over
the buildings to stop the
stars to fall on the streets.

An excellent poem with such vivid imagery that it took me through some of my travels. Loved the whole poem. Especially, your last stanza!
