Alone Poem by Danusha Marie

Alone

I sit in stillness
Quiet surrounds
The hums from the fan
Are the only sounds

The cat nestled snugly
In her silent repose
But calmness eludes
While anxiety grows

I dare not move
To disturb this peace
Or am I frozen
Fear causing this crease

What could cause
This crumpled state
I search for the answer
And simply wait

Why is the silence
Such a foe
Wrestling with thoughts
In my minds show

I wonder if ever
I’ll find my Zen
Trying to be patient
But asking when

Is it loneliness
Being alone
Do I seek pebbles
Not a barren stone

Or is it my thoughts
That drum and race
Setting the tone
And uncomfortable pace

I seek distraction
From silence so loud
I believe I’d rather
Be alone in a crowd
