Alive Poem by Chris Townsend

Alive

Words escape me, they take me to my special place,
A different universe, well away from human disgrace,
My thoughts drift through, this void called a mind,
All these presents left by faceless people, all these things to find,
I am here, and you aren’t really with me,
Although I am captivated, I am still free,
I don’t belong to anyone; no one owns this shell of a man,
No one can touch me, no image of a radar scan,
I float on a sea of deep scented depravity,
As I touch the cool water, no land I see,
Wondrous things have I touched and felt,
The calmness contained within, these justices I have dealt,
I am blessed I feel privileged to be alive,
Within this chaos I was born to thrive,
