I came upon a mangled tree.
I thought and feared it came to me
Through the forest deep and dark
A journey on which no one'd embark
It was evil, black and charred
Its leaves and branches deeply scarred
Battles fought, lost and won
Shaded from the cleansing sun
It came far from mysterious places
Never seen by human faces
A place of darkness, no fluorescence
Far away from mortal presence
Though its appearance made me shiver
And prematurely shake and quiver
I followed it to lands unknown
But I could sense we weren't alone
Everywhere was dark as night
Then at once there came a light
It cut through darkness like a knife
And spread, relieving pain and strife
And then I woke up
