A Hymn For The Broken Poem by Daniel Pace

A Hymn For The Broken

If you've felt like you're never truly at home,
Lost in a world not quite your own,
Other people seeming as hard as stone,
Lost, afraid, and utterly alone
You may be one of the broke. I'm one too
Who try and try but never make do
Who see the world around them as a hopeful place
yet find themselves a horrid disgrace
So you keep on going with a heart so full
But life always seems to demand a great toll
You want to help, and prove your worth
But life always seems to leave you in the dirt
Always left behind, discarded like old news
You try to interact but end up with the blues
Always alone and can't tell why
Someone could love you if they'd only try,
Well this was written to tell you you're wrong
Maybe you'll believe a poem or a song
But god dammit I'm saying that YOU are worth a ton
Don't let you're mind tell you you're not good enough for someone
You've been through some pain, some heartbreak I know
But those challenges are just an opportunity to grow
By going through your hardships you're better off than most
I'd even go as far as to say you have grounds to boast
You're not a victim to what life throws out
Because you got up rather than sit and pout
You're a HERO and an unbreakable force
You've had moments of weakness but should feel no remorse
In spite of your battles so tall you stand
An achiever, and survivor though none of it planned
Life will always have challenges that we must face
Will you let them beat you? Or keep your grace?
If you choose to get up where so many don't
That's a victory in itself cause most people won't
You're way stronger than you'd accredit yourself,
When it comes to fighting spirit you've got a wealth,
So let this be your reminder, your fight song
To look back on when things go wrong,
You're a fighter, a warrior, and a hero of mine
And remember things will get better with time.
