Lonely In Paradise Poem by Daniel Pace

Lonely In Paradise

Rating: 5.0

It gets lonely here in paradise
Surrounded by stars, high above city lights
My spirit's as high as anyone could lift
As I lay on my cloud peacefully adrift
but what is peace without war?
If we know no evil what do we fight for?
all I have up here it seems,
are my blissful, yet imagined dreams
I imagine romance, though there is no one around
I dream of escaping to the vile ground
I need to escape this peaceful place
with its absence of cruelty, evil, and hate
for without evil what is wrong or right?
a world of grey areas night after night
sometimes the pains we're forced to endure
are much more than we bargained for
but do you know you feel good if you've never felt bad?
Do you know that you're happy if you've never felt sad?
I live in a place with an absence of war
upon my cloud I confusedly soar
nobody can join me in my paradise
for to know true bliss is too big a sacrifice
and so I ride alone night, and day
upon my cloud, in a world of grey
