A Favourite Place Poem by Jordan Millar

A Favourite Place

A favourite place isn't defined by what's built or what's there
But by the good times and the memories in this spot that we share
It's about the laughter and smiles that we once planted here
The experiences and the joy that we consider so dear
It's about the people and the friends with whom we would look
Upon the fun and excitement like something out of a book
It is so much more than a spot, and more than a place
It is the very essence of the joy that is brought to your face
Once you see this field, or shop or this particular street
That quickens the pace of which your heart starts to beat
For me this place is the coast of the sea
Where I can go and think or just simply be
Where I can sit on the rocks and stare out into the blue
Or just sit down and sleep because I have nothing to do
My memories here are why I love this spot
When I came where in rain or sun, freezing or hot
When my mind was torn and I needed to think
I could come here and simply let my troubles sink
In the icy cold water of which I consider home
Or the stone jungle of this coast which I love to roam
So this is why I have chosen this as my favourite place
It is the coast where on the rocks, into the sea you can face
