A Simple Friend Poem by Jordan Millar

A Simple Friend

I don't know you, and we don't speak
You don't come to me when all seems bleak
But today that changes and this is no more
No matter who you are, I'm an open door
I don't care if you're rich and king of the school
Or the bottom of the pile who never feels cool
My help is not conditional, there will be no fee
Come as you are whoever you may be
Because we all need help, and this world is cold
And so my help will be given, and never sold
Today I'm your friend, and I will be here
So don't be afraid, there is nothing to fear
I won't judge you and hurt you like all the rest
I will be there for you, and give you my best
Because I am not cool and I don't rule the land
I am simply here to give you a helping hand
