My Fight Poem by Jordan Millar

My Fight

You message me, and I reply
You don't reply, please tell me why
Why do I try, while you pass me by,
Sitting here and wishing to die
I trusted you, gave you my all
And you did nothing but let me fall
But I still held on, when my hope was gone
Wishing this night would lead to dawn,
But it's still the same, day never came,
And I'm sitting here with all the blame
With open palms, and my head laid back,
Doing nothing but watching the attack
That beats me down, breaks my will
These empty cracks I can never fill
But your deep blue eyes, why I won't give in,
Not to the demons, temptation or sin
Why I am loyal, to you alone
Like a dog captivated by its bone
You are all I see, the reason I fight
To me you are the only thing in sight
So this is why, why I hold on
Even when all my hope is gone
Why I won't back down, why I'm here to stay
Why you could never push me away
The night is dark, but your eyes are bright,
They give me my strength, they're why I fight
