Wynand Johannes Louw Poems

Thoughts race as I brace myself
to get onto the chair again.
I test the rope,
fastened tightly to the roof.
...

With fields of green and clouds
overhead, the roses of life have died.
With gears turning the acts of war|
and souls to pay the price,
...

Another day passed
Another angel falls
Another loss undeserved
Another helpless pleads
...

Fear not the world, my Leonine…
Fear not the silent times between.
Fear not the chance of loneliness,
fear not that love could whither yon.
...

the light that shone
from far beyond,
the darkness it precedes.
the flood of wind,

Where are you now?
After all you’ve done
and all we still needed to do,
you are Gone now,
...

Let me ask you a question,
fundamental in its simplicity.
A question around which
worlds can be built or burnt.
...

As the blood forms
the rivers that flow
past the blade that made them -
the eyes see their last,
...

Would you still love me
if you knew who I am?
Would you still love me
if you knew what I've done?

Secretly he breaks down tonight,
secretly he bleeds out tonight.
Pulling at the daggers he stabbed in his heart -
twisting them, increasing the pain.

If I could tell you
how much I need you right now,
would you come right over?
If I could tell you

He cried out for something,
he cried out for truth.
Trying to hold on
in a world that's broken.

The soles of their shoes
are worn down
by the seeming endless
pilgrimage. Blister upon

death is a ghastly beauty -
giving the hope of change,
taking the hope of dreams.

Is this the curse I am left with
once I have finally found
my destiny and company of valour?
Is this the fate that we have to share,

And the inners of carbon and aqua
turn to ash, of “oxo” and “hydra” turn to dust.
And the blowflies enter once beautiful brown

Without boundaries, there can be no freedom.
Without failure, there can be no success.
Without sorrow, we can not appreciate joy.
Without heartache, we can not bestow love.

As the rain drips softly to the ground,
I think of your sweet smile and gentle embrace,
and hope you hear it too.

softly she combs through my hair.
I can hear her cry at night beside me,

Goodbye

Thoughts race as I brace myself
to get onto the chair again.
I test the rope,
fastened tightly to the roof.
Not one slip, not one chance
of escape from this hole
that eats me from the inside out.
The note’s on the table -
go see…it’s for you!
It’s not called a leap of faith
for no reason you know.
Before I take this final step,
I wanted you to know:
I love you…I, love you!
It’ll pull tight around me, embrace me,
smother me, then kill me.
But this has to end today, now!
Goodbye my love.
Be strong for me now.

Goodbye
