Man: Unevolved Evolution Poem by Wynand Johannes Louw

Man: Unevolved Evolution

And the inners of carbon and aqua
turn to ash, of “oxo” and “hydra” turn to dust.
And the blowflies enter once beautiful brown
oculars to spread towards the previously
supposed precious inner flesh to turn such to
compost for the seedling that
will be coming eventually aft.
And the “ferros” that protrudes inward
and out if the life pumping muscle will
turn to dust as I myself see me returning to
what I had come from oh so many seasons past.

And from the windblown dust that is stirred
from its gentle sleepless slumber,
from the rust and the liquid and the gas.
From the compost that once was
a breathing being will once again
come forth life renewed, restored.
And from the new growth of chlorophyll
and cutine will come forth the recycled
truths of past become future as the
hourglass turns anew on its head to
count the timeless existence on the
atoms and the bonds, the truths and the lies.

And such was the fate of Henry of Scarborough fair,
and such will be the fate of Caitlin of his decent.
And such shall be the fate of the man from afar
or the women to never see beyond the backyard wall.
And such was the fate of Michael Everard
in his pleaful search for revenge. Yes…
such will be even the fate of the Hunter
that he so pitifully sought.
And at the end of such seasons of pain
and smite shall grow anew the flower of
hope that man’s plight may change.

And from such flower will start again the being that is man.
