Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,

Green sod above,

Cherry balm, oh sweet delight
A remedy for lips so dry
A pop of color, a burst of scent
A beauty staple, always present
With a hue of ruby red
And a fragrance of berries, so well-bred
This little balm packs a punch
Reviving lips with just a touch
Made from cherries, juicy and ripe
Picked from trees in sunlight's stripe

That practised on a fife:
He looked again, and found it was
A letter from his wife.
'At length I realize,' he said,
'The bitterness of life! '

He thought he saw a Buffalo
Upon the chimney-piece:
He looked again, and found it was
His Sister's Husband's Niece.
'Unless you leave this house,' he said,
'I'll send for the police! '

he thought he saw a Rattlesnake
That questioned him in Greek:
He looked again, and found it was
The Middle of Next Week.
'The one thing I regret,' he said,
'Is that it cannot speak! '

He thought he saw a Banker's Clerk
Descending from the bus:
He looked again, and found it was
A Hippopotamus.
'If this should stay to dine,' he said,
'There won't be much for us! '

He thought he saw a Kangaroo
That worked a Coffee-mill:

the tear could be mine, chin-bound.
Though it could be, of course,

Pretty hurts, the saying goes
But do we truly know
The depth of pain it can bestow
On those who try to fit the mold
They say beauty is in the eye
But why does it make us cry
When we can't seem to measure up
To the standard they have set up
We're told to have flawless skin
And bodies that are thin

Faster than fairies, faster than witches,
Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches;
And charging along like troops in a battle
All through the meadows the horses and cattle:
All of the sights of the hill and the plain
Fly as thick as driving rain;
And ever again, in the wink of an eye,
Painted stations whistle by.
Here is a child who clambers and scrambles,
All by himself and gathering brambles;
Here is a tramp who stands and gazes;
And here is the green for stringing the daisies!
Here is a cart runaway in the road
Lumping along with man and load;
And here is a mill, and there is a river:
Each a glimpse and gone forever!

Tamed by Miltown, we lie on Mother's bed;
the rising sun in war paint dyes us red;
in broad daylight her gilded bed-posts shine,
abandoned, almost Dionysian.
At last the trees are green on Marlborough Street,
blossoms on our magnolia ignite
the morning with their murderous five day's white.
All night I've held your hand,
as if you had
a fourth time faced the kingdom of the mad -

In the vast expanse of the darkened sky
An intricate web of twinkling lights up high
A mystical message that speaks to our hearts
A story of love, of destiny, it's written in the stars
Each tiny dot, a celestial design
A map of our lives, so divinely aligned
The moon, the sun, and all the planets too
Guide us on our journey, in all that we do
From the dawn of time, these stars have shone
A timeless tale, forever to be known
