Words To Hear Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Words To Hear

Words heard to hear them matter.
The way they are used.
With emphasis expressed.
Intentionally to leave an affect.
On a mind to find them confined.

And whoever later says,
What had been said left in another's head.
Although intended but not meant,
Had been by them misinterpreted.
To deny to rely upon lies to tell,
Among others made convinced.
That the one offended,
Took out of context...
An expressed attempt at humor.
And should know the doing of it,
Was not a pre-meditated intention...
To be obnoxiously offensive.
Or meant to be disgustingly rude.
In a public display to prove,
Such words picked to spew...
As if from the gutter done.
Should not have another feel...
It was at their expense to pay.
While many observed to witness this.
Without one to smile or get the joke.
